- Make the Berkshires your home! -

I would love to be your professional realtor and resource as you search for the perfect home. Please use this website to explore our multiple listings! As you know, the Berkshires are an easy drive from New York, Connecticut and the Boston area. There is a lot to discover here. Let’s work together. I will really listen to what you want in a home. I will bring my warmth, humor and professional expertise to the process. I make real estate a moving experience!

Did you first fall under the spell of the Berkshires when you came up for a Tanglewood concert, or did you spend summers here as a child? This lovely part of Western Massachusetts has history and a bountiful tradition of arts and culture, set in breath-taking country side of farms, Shaker villages, rolling hills and pristine lakes.

Where to Live?

Do you prefer the bustle and interaction of being in the middle of things, but on a much more manageable scale? We have small historic towns, and happening places with wonderful restaurants, theaters, clubs and shopping. Or do your really want privacy and seclusion amidst the glories of nature? You can find land on a hilltop with views of distant mountains, or at a lakefront. We have lots of in-town properties, from row houses, to traditional New England homes with big porches and spacious yards. If you prefer one-floor living, there are lovely communities with very nice ranches available. The condominium market has a fascinating range of options: We have many country sites surrounded by mountains as well as city living in historic mansions and spacious condos in renovated schools, churches and the Maplewood Hotel!

Historic People:

Fascinating people have lived here, or live here now! Come join them! Norman Rockwell painted the main street of Stockbridge, and many of his neighbors smiled at you from the covers of the Saturday Evening Post. After the Clarks collected great paintings from around the world, they established a world-class museum in Williamstown. Gilbert Chester French, the artist of Lincoln’s statue at the Memorial in Washington DC, had his studio here at Chesterwood. Some of our other past neighbors include Edith Wharton whose estate is now open to the public in Lenox, and Susan B. Anthony who lived in North Adams. (Before MassMOCA was on the scene!) And you know that Herman Melville’s home in Pittsfield is where he wrote Moby-Dick, and the poets, scholars and judges of the Wendell Homes family were originally from Pittsfield as well.

In the News!

Recent articles in the New York Times and the Boston Globe extolled the joys of homeownership in Pittsfield The Times interviewed our newest neighbor, Dr. Juliana Boyd, of the Barrington Stage, who spoke about her warm welcome from the community and how glorious it is to walk to work from her historic home. Visit our Cultural Pittsfield.com website for weekly events.

The Theater Scene:

Choosing which theatrical performance for an evening can be challenging. Should you try a brand new, original musical at the Black Box Theater in the Athenaeum by the Barrington Stage in Pittsfield? Should it be the main stage at the Berkshire Theater Festival in Stockbridge, or its gem of the Unicorn stage? What show is at the Barrington Stage on Union Street? How about a drive up to the Williamstown Theater Festival in its glorious new home on campus at Williams College? Pittsfield had two professional theaters open this summer: Besides the relocation of the Barrington stage, there was another celebration: After five years of painstaking and careful restoration, the historic Colonial Theater on South Street has opened to rave reviews. Recently Great Barrington’s own Mahawie Theater raised its beautifully restored marquee and now welcomes outstanding artists in that venue.

Visual Arts:

There are wonderful, juried, quality art shows throughout the summer. Such groups as the Sheffield Artists League, the Pittsfield Storefront Artists and Artists on North, have shows and open studio offerings. The cities of Lenox and Pittsfield offer special summer art festivals. There are quality craft fairs and summer street festivals in Great Barrington and throughout the county. Visit our many superb galleries with fine craft works and pieces of quality art.

Music Abounds;

Bring your picnic basket to the lawn at Tanglewood, the Lenox summer home of the Boston Symphony or sit and listen to Garrison Keillor and James Taylor. If you love Chamber Music, you have many very exciting opportunities to hear extraordinary music. Close Encounters With Music in Great Barrington, South Mountain Concert Series, in Lenox, The Stockbridge Chamber Series, The Church on the Hill in Lenox are but a few.. For oratorio lovers, try the Berkshire Choral Festival or the sing with the Berkshire Lyric theater! Klezmer groups perform throughout the county.

American Institute of Architects:

This past year, The American Institute of Architects chose seven American cities to investigate for housing stock. Pittsfield was one of those seven and the report was enthusiastic: they found the inventory of homes to be of wonderful value and quite under priced for the national market.

Dance:

Besides the world famous groups at Jacob’s Pillow, there are new venues offering dance to glory in as a spectator, or feel your own rhythm as a participant. Bang on the Can performs regularly at MassMOCA in North Adams. Tango lessons are weekly at the Lichenstein Center for the Arts in Pittsfield. There are Salsa, the very active ballroom dancing and contra dancing groups who warmly welcome newcomers, and singles. (You only need two feet, not four.) If you love the discipline of a rigorous class, try Studio One on North Street and work with Darrell Puchiarello, of the Metropolitan Opera ballet. There are other programs for children at the Berkshire Music School and Cantarellas.

If you plan to find the perfect second home within an easy drive from New York or Boston, or are thinking about retiring or relocating to the Berkshires, I would feel privileged to help you in your search.
